Here are 6 important UAE visa and entry developments announced or reflected by UAE authorities in 2026 — explained in easy Taglish, kasama ang importanteng conditions na dapat malaman.

1. UAE EXPANDED VISA-ON-ARRIVAL ELIGIBILITY

Ito ang isa sa pinaka-importanteng UAE entry updates this year.

Noong June 25, 2026, inanunsyo ng UAE Federal Authority for Identity, Citizenship, Customs and Port Security — or ICP — ang expanded eligibility for entry visas on arrival for ordinary passport holders from:

🇮🇩 Indonesia🇻🇳 Vietnam🇹🇭 Thailand🇵🇭 Philippines🇰🇪 Kenya🇿🇦 South Africa

Eligible travellers may qualify for a 14-day or 60-day entry visa on arrival, depending on the applicable category and requirements.

Pero importanteng linawin:

Hindi ibig sabihin nito na lahat ng passport holders mula sa anim na bansang ito ay automatic visa-on-arrival.

The current ICP service information states that eligible nationals must also hold certain valid immigration status or documents.

For the US, EU or UK, this may include a valid visa, residence permit, or US Green Card, as applicable.

Valid residence permits from Japan, South Korea, Australia, Canada, Singapore or New Zealand are also included in the qualifying categories listed by ICP.

The passport must also meet the applicable validity requirement; ICP's current service page states at least six months' validity.

Bottom line:

Kapag may nakita kang post na:

“Filipinos are now visa-on-arrival in UAE!”

kulang iyon kapag walang explanation ng qualifications.

May expanded eligibility — pero may conditions.

2. DUBAI TOURIST VISA SERVICE LISTS A 48-HOUR EXPECTED COMPLETION TIME ⏱️

May magandang update din para sa mga nagpaplanong bumisita sa Dubai.

According to the official GDRFA Dubai service page, a single-entry tourist visa may be issued for a stay of:

30 days or 60 days.

The official page currently lists the expected completion time as 48 hours.

Pero dito tayo dapat very clear:

48 hours does NOT mean guaranteed approval within exactly 48 hours.

Ito ang expected service completion time published by GDRFA.

The application still has to satisfy the applicable requirements and government processing.

For this particular tourist-visa service, GDRFA also states that the sponsor or host must be an establishment operating in the tourism sector, and that only accredited tourism offices in Dubai can issue this type of visa.

Current basic requirements listed by GDRFA include:

• Passport/travel document valid for at least six months• Travel ticket for onward travel or departure from the UAE• Medical insurance valid in the UAE• Required personal and passport documents

So the correct headline is:

“Dubai tourist visa service has a published expected processing time of 48 hours.”

Not:

“Guaranteed visa approval in 48 hours.”

3. IMPORTANT UPDATE FOR DUBAI PROPERTY INVESTOR RESIDENCY

This one deserves careful explanation.

The current Dubai Land Department Investor Residence — Taskeen service page says that an individual property owner may apply for the property-linked residency regardless of the value of the property, subject to the applicable requirements.

For joint ownership, the current service page says the applicant's share must be worth at least:

AED 400,000.

The same current page identifies the issued residence permit under this service as a two-year residency permit.

But here's an important transparency note:

There are currently older/general Dubai Land Department pages showing different property thresholds, including older references to AED 750,000 or AED 1 million.

That means online information from DLD itself is not completely uniform across every page at the moment.

For that reason, anyone making an investment or residency decision should verify the applicable requirement for their specific case directly through the current DLD Taskeen service or Dubai Land Department before committing funds.

Also, don't confuse this two-year property residence service with the 10-year property-investor Golden Visa.

DLD's current Golden Visa service separately lists a property-value requirement of AED 2 million for that category.

4. UAE HAD A TEMPORARY OVERSTAY-FINE EXEMPTION — BUT IT HAS ENDED

On March 4, 2026, ICP announced an exemption from delayed-departure fines for people who were unable to leave the UAE because of exceptional regional circumstances involving airspace closures and temporary flight suspensions.

The exemption applied to qualifying affected people, including certain:

• Visit-visa holders• Tourist-visa holders• Exit-permit holders• Residents who had cancelled their residency in preparation for leaving the UAE

The ICP announcement said it covered applicable fines incurred from February 28, 2026 onward where departure was prevented by those exceptional circumstances.

Later, the ICP announced a final 30-day grace period.

That grace period ran from:

June 10, 2026 to July 9, 2026.

Eligible affected individuals were given that period to either regularise their status or leave the UAE.

Important as of September 29, 2026:

That specific grace period has already ended.

“UAE zero overstay fines!”

check the date first.

That 2026 exemption was connected to specific exceptional circumstances. It was not a permanent cancellation of UAE overstay fines for everybody.

ICP's current residency service information continues to show overstay penalties applying after relevant visa/residency grace periods, depending on the category.

5. DUBAI IS DEVELOPING A SMART MEDICAL VISA SYSTEM

This is another real development — but the wording is very important.

In June 2026, the General Directorate of Identity and Foreigners Affairs – Dubai and the Dubai Health Authority signed a strategic Memorandum of Understanding aimed at creating a more integrated experience for people travelling to Dubai for healthcare.

The cooperation covers areas including:

• Visa and residency services• Healthcare services• Digital system integration• Health insurance integration• Medical-tourism applications• Treatment and follow-up services

According to the official Dubai Media Office, the agreement also paves the way for future initiatives, most notably the development of a smart medical visa.

The important truth:

It is accurate to say:

“Dubai is developing a smart medical visa.”

It would be premature to say:

“Dubai has already launched a completely new smart medical visa for everyone.”

The official announcement describes it as a future initiative being developed.

6. UAE'S EBOLA-RELATED ENTRY MEASURES HAVE CHANGED

This is another example of why dates matter.

On June 5, 2026, NCEMA and ICP announced precautionary measures involving travellers connected with:

🇨🇩 Democratic Republic of the Congo🇺🇬 Uganda🇸🇸 South Sudan

The measures took effect from 1:00 PM on June 6, 2026.

At that time, the authorities announced the suspension of new visa issuance for nationals of the three countries, including visit visas.

They also announced restrictions on travellers arriving from the listed countries, including people travelling through another country, unless the person had spent more than 21 days outside the listed countries before arriving in the UAE. Transit flight operations themselves were not affected by the announced measures.

BUT THERE IS A NEWER UPDATE.

On September 26, 2026, UAE authorities announced that they were easing the precautionary entry measures involving Uganda, following developments in the epidemiological situation and the declared end of the Ebola outbreak there after the required monitoring period.

The same announcement states that the precautionary measures applicable to:

🇨🇩 Democratic Republic of the Congo🇸🇸 South Sudan

remain in effect due to the ongoing epidemiological situation.

The authorities also made clear that these health-related measures remain subject to review and may be adjusted according to updated risk assessments.

Important: because the September announcement says the UAE is “easing” measures for Uganda rather than detailing every immigration consequence in that announcement, it is safer not to claim that every previous Uganda-related restriction has automatically been removed unless the relevant authority confirms the applicant's specific situation.

SO ANO ANG DAPAT TANDAAN?

The biggest lesson from these six updates is simple:

Huwag headline lang ang basahin.

A headline can say:

“Visa-on-arrival na!”

Pero may eligibility requirements pala.

A post can say:

“Tourist visa in 48 hours!”

Pero expected processing time pala iyon — not guaranteed approval.

Someone can say:

“Zero overstay fines!”

Pero temporary relief pala iyon for specifically affected travellers, at tapos na ang announced grace period.

And an announcement can say:

“Smart medical visa!”

Pero development initiative pa pala, not necessarily a fully launched replacement system.

That's why before travelling, applying, investing, paying, or making an immigration decision:

✅ Check your exact visa category.

✅ Check the nationality requirements.

✅ Check passport validity.

✅ Check whether the rule is federal or Dubai-specific.

✅ And always confirm through the appropriate UAE authority when your individual case matters.
